" Faith Without Works is dead...." James 2:14-26
Our library houses an extensive collection of over 4000 books, from Christian literature to children's picture book classics (and everything in between). The library is situated in the Church Parlor of our church, next to the worship sanctuary. There are tables, soft chairs, sofas, stained glass windows, and a fireplace, which makes for a comfortable, serene space to enjoy your selections. The children have over 1000 books to choose from and their own separate area to enjoy. Members & visitors are welcome to check out books to take home and enjoy free of charge. Each year during the week of Thanksgiving (Saturday to Saturday,) our church is in partnership with the Cass Community Social Services to provide housing, meals, entertainment, and support for 45-60 homeless persons from Detroit. This program, originally called the "Rotating Shelter," was begun by Rev. Faith Fowler of the Cass Community Methodist Church. Mr. Dwight Lewis facilitated our involvement in this program 25 years ago and it has been continued and evolved by a committee of loyal congregation members and is now supported in conjunction with eight local church congregations, who volunteer during this week.
