FROM MICHIGAN AREA WEBSITE:
Where do we find ourselves in the second year of a once-a-century pandemic?
Singing the Lord’s Song… is the theme of the 2021 Annual Conference. Join us as we explore how the church has continued when the sanctuary has closed. Learn about how new ministries and new ways to serve the Lord have emerged in this time of COVID. Discern the new challenges, feed your soul and learn how to sing the Lord’s song in a strange land (Psalm 137:4).
As COVID-19 precautions continue to encourage faith communities to gather virtually, the 2021 Annual Conference will expand offerings including a reimagined Laity Event, multiple devotion and worship experiences, legislative and teaching sessions, 5K for Child Hunger Relief, and a Service of Commissioning and Ordination.
Annual Conference begins on Thursday, June 3 with Clergy Session at 12:30 PM EDT (clergy and BOM only). All are welcome to join the newly designed Laity Event from 4:00 PM EDT – 6:00 PM EDT for a devotional, and an uplifting segment on the call to lay ministry, including a live Q & A with lay speaker Derrick Scott III. Opening worship is Thursday night, at 7:00 PM EDT, including a time of Memorial. Bishop David A. Bard will be preaching during this inspiring service.
Due to anticipated continuing COVID health recommendations, the Service of Recognition, Commissioning, and Ordination is expected to be recorded at another time and shared on Sunday, June 13.
Closing worship is led by Rev. Paul Perez Saturday, June 5 @ 4 p.m.
